Travel baseball team comprised of Glens Falls Youth Baseball House League players that are interested in more competitive baseball. Glens Falls Cal Ripken Teams participate in the Empire State Baseball League versus other community travel teams from throughout the Capital District. We field teams from the 8U to 12U Age Groups based on demand and registered participants at each age group.
In order to play travel baseball you must have signed up and attended 85% of your house league games. If players are injured and unable to play in house league games, attendance of the game will be included in the 85%.
To be considered a coach you must reach out to the Glens Falls league travel coordinator. The travel coordinator will then make selections on coaches.
After the selection of coaches, tryouts dates will be set. Tryouts will be held after the All-Star season is finished. The season will include a fall season (played in September and October) and a spring season (games will be played during house league season). Board members and coaches will run tryouts. The selected coach will make selections to the team. There will only be one try out in the fall for both seasons.
Each coach will be responsible for scheduling and funding of the team. Teams will be funding for league registration, hats, uniforms, umpires and a payment will be made to the league for game balls and field supplies for each season depending on schedule. Glens Falls youth baseball and softball will be covering the insurance fees for all teams.
Travel baseball is not part of the house league and a financial commitment should be considered by parents, family members and coaches. Also, coaches can raise money through fundraising to offset team expenses such as uniforms, umpiring fees and offseason training. All fundraising should be approved by the board of directors.
